Moisture wicking means a fabric helps move liquid sweat away from your skin toward the outer surface of the garment, where it can spread and evaporate. It does not mean the garment is waterproof, automatically cool, odor-proof, or right for every kind of training. The useful question is what happens after the label makes the claim.
When you are choosing a training layer, read moisture wicking as one part of a larger system: how the fabric moves liquid, how quickly it dries, how much air can pass through it, how the garment fits, and what you will actually do while wearing it. Wicking, drying, breathability, and cooling are different
These terms often sit next to each other on product pages, but they describe different jobs.
- Wicking is the movement of liquid moisture away from the skin and through or across the fabric.
- Drying is what happens after that movement. The moisture has to leave the fabric through evaporation or another drying process.

4. Does the fit match the job?
Fit is part of comfort. For training, you may want a layer that stays close enough to move with you without pulling across the shoulders or restricting the arm path.
